The Importance of the Personalized Diet Rich in Specific Nutraceuticals in a Patient with Non Immune Thrombocytopenia, Multiple Pathogenic Haematological Variants and Non Immune Ulcerative Colitis
Abstract

Ulcerative Colitis affects a large number of individuals, while thrombocytopenia is not common among population. Furthermore, individual mutations MTHFR C677T, FXIII V34L, and GPIIIa L33P are common in populations but their simultaneous occurrence in one individual is relatively infrequent. For this type of patients, a personalized diet is crucial to manage inflammation and potentially impact both hematological and gastrointestinal health. Generally, Mediterranean diet is appropriate but the patient must choose foods with low percentage of Methionine, vitamin K, high percentage of folates and vitamin B12, an adequate intake of calcium and ATP. In addition, foods containing nutraceuticals with anti-inflammatory and antiplatelet power are preferred. In particular, the case reports an individual with a sporty lifestyle, who in three years of personalized diet has tripled the kilometers traveled and doubled the pace of the run. Apparently supplementing with bovine Lactoferrin and flavonoids from citrus helped improve performance during the race.
